The Ocean Cleanup is also developing sustainable products made from material in the GPGP. Obviously, this is the first time production like this will be attempted, so it hasn’t been 100% confirmed yet. However, the organization plans to launch its first product in September 2020. This allows supporters the opportunity to make donations to contribute to the removal of more ocean plastic. The founder of The Ocean Cleanup, Boyan Slat, stated, “I believe we can use this trash to turn a problem into a solution by transforming this unique material into a beautiful product. As most people will never go to the GPGP, through these products, we aim to give everyone the opportunity to take part in the cleanup”.
